Holy shit I wish

  • Nov. 11th, 2009 at 8:11 PM

So, funny story. Today I was working on a project with a classmate, and when I opened up my laptop a picture of Susan Collins popped up on my desktop background. He pointed to the picture and asked, "is that your mom?" HOLY SHIT I ALMOST DIED!! I cracked up for like 5 minutes in the middle of Starbucks before I answered him. I replied "holy shit I wish." So SO true. And then I would randomly start laughing throughout our study session. It was great....

Best moment ever....

Health Care Reform!!! Fucking finally....

  • Nov. 9th, 2009 at 4:08 PM

Thank you to the United States House of Representatives for growing some BALLS by passing a bill that would grant us the same right that everyone else living in a civilized nation enjoys: universal health care. Now, I know the bill isn't perfect (not really universal, and the whole abortion thing...), but its sure as hell something!!!

Thank you Speaker Pelosi for whippin those Dems into shape.
Also, kudos for being 66 years old and looking AMAZING at 12:00 at night...         <input ... ><input ... >

Well, I was hoping in the last post that the tags would appear in the order that I put them so you could identify each person. But alas, live journal put it in alphabetical order. So, here is the order from left to right, the first level then the second:

Kathy Dahlkemper (D-PA), Betty Sutton (D-OH) (I worked for her!), Laura Richardson (D-CA), Lynne Woolsey (D-CA) (she's my rep!), Louise Slaughter (D-NY), Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), Donna Edwards (D-MD), Susan Davis(D-CA), Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Lois Capps (D-CA), Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH), Jessica Alba, Carolyn Kilpatrick (D-IL), Diana DeGette (D-CO), Kathy Castor (D-FL), Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Debbie Wasserman-Shultz (D-FL), Allyson Schwartz (D-PA), Suzanne Kosmas (D-FL), Betty McCollum (D-MN), Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX).

Women in the House!!!

  • Nov. 6th, 2009 at 12:06 PM

So, I always love when politicians get pictures with Hollywood actors/actresses, because they become just like anyone else; giddy to meet someone famous, and totally forgetting that they are in fact in the same position. Jessica Alba was on the Hill yesterday advocating for the education of women, and like EVERY woman in congress came to say hi! Love it. Also, women's education is quite un-controversial, so it was totally just an excuse for a photo-op.

Love this, but have complaints...

Ok, so I have a lot to say about this picture, because I think the photographer was ON CRACK when they took it! First of all, it is too far away. I can't see any of the senator's lovely faces. I know there are 17 (yay!), but it could've been much tighter and bigger. Also, like, what is with Barbara Mikulski being in the back? She's like 4 feet tall, so she should be the one sitting down with Patty Murray and Barbara Boxer. The tall ladies should be in the back! It is totally illogical to have Barbara Mikulski standing in the same line as Lisa Murkowski. Duh! Also, the pic should've been taken in the summer, NOT MARCH! Not digging everyone's turtle necks....

I have a huge archive on my computer of all my fav pics of the women in the senate (and House), so I will be slowly posting them to my profile. Let me first continue with my fav Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe pictures.

This one is by far my favorite. I wish they were bff's! Wouldn't that be great?

I am sitting in class right now, Comparative Politics, and I am so frustrated that I have to go to school. I'm totally serious. I'm looking at the Twitter posts by Sen. Claire McCaskill, and there are such cool things going on on Capitol Hill right now. So, why can't I be there?? Oh right! I have to sit here next to a really smelly boy learning about the House of Lords. I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT OLD MEN IN ENGLAND, I GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE GREATEST LEGISLATIVE BODY IN ALL THE WORLD: CONGRESS!!! Its so not fair. I know, everyone tells me that I should study hard, and enjoy my youth, but that goes for people who don't know what they want to do with their life!! I DO!!! So why the fuck can't I be left alone to do what I want?? Its not like I want to smoke pot all day and work at McDonalds. I want to work for members of Congress! DAMN! Anyway, class has ended, so I will end my rant here. Sigh...
